Religious Education at St. Monica Parish

St. Monica Parish offers a hybrid of traditional classroom instruction and relational ministry.  This two pronged approach gathers up the very best of both methods in order to offer students a rich encounter with the Catholic Faith in its doctrinal and communal dimensions.

In the more formal settings, students learn about the Creed and sacramental life of the Church, as well as the moral teachings and life of prayer which both support and express it.  The traditional religious education and sacramental preparation classes are held on Sunday mornings approximately twice each month, and some Sunday evenings.  Parents have a choice of two sessions, conveniently scheduled to allow families to attend Holy Mass immediately following or immediately prior to religious education.  Session A begins at 8:00 am and ends at 9:15 am; Session B begins at 10:45 am and ends at 12:00 noon.

Relational ministry provides young people with an opportunity to engage in a fun-filled social life among fellow Catholics and Christians in order to build friendships and enjoy one another's company.  These social events range from athletics to game nights, from drama performances to evenings dedicated to prayer. The goal is not so much formal instructions in the faith, but informal experience of lived faith in an environment which not only supports the faith but also embraces and encourages its active and courageous expression.  Groups vary in age from elementary, middle, and high school with age appropriate activities and supervision for each.  St. Monica's Parish invites everyone to come and enjoy one another's company for an evening of fun, faith, and friendship.
